Regina Akora
Regina Akora is a freelance graphic novelist who has worked for the Shounen Manga Anthology, Saturday AM in creating the one shot manga Otome Life, that featured over four issues. She is currently working on her self-published work LOLI-POP! that has appeared twice in NEO Magazine.
Kirsty Eagar
Kirsty Eagar was raised on her mum’s central Queensland cattle property, and spent most holidays at the beach with her dad. After completing a Master’s degree in Economics, she worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of England before changing careers, wanting a life where she could surf every day. She travelled around Australia for a couple of years, living out of a car, worked a variety of jobs and began writing fiction. Her debut novel, Raw Blue, won the 2010 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Young Adult fiction. Her second novel, Saltwater Vampires, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. Her third novel, Night Beach, was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards, the Western Australia Premier’s Awards and a Gold Inky.
Laniyuk Garcon
Laniyuk Garcon was born of a French mother and a Larrakia, Kungarrakan and Gurindji father. Her poetry and short memoir often reflects the inter sectionalist of her cross cultural and queer identity. She was fortunate to contribute to the book Colouring the Rainbow: Blak Queer and Trans Perspectives. Laying won the Indigenous residency for Canberra’s Noted Writers Festival in 2017, the Overland Writers Residency for 2018, and was shortlisted for Overland‘s 2018 Nakata Brophy poetry prize.
Charlotte Guest
Charlotte Guest is a Western Australian writer and Publishing Officer at UWA Publishing. Her writing has appeared in The Weekend Australian, Griffith Review, Overland, Island Magazine, Australian Book Review, Westerly, Cordite Poetry Review and elsewhere. She has interviewed and been a panellist at Perth Writers Festival, Margaret Readers and Writers Festival, the Emerging Writers Festival and the National Young Writers Festival.
Soap, her debut collection of poetry, was published by Recent Work Press in 2017.
Alicia Tuckerman
Alicia Tuckerman, author of If I Tell You, is a driving force for young LGBT voices within Australia. Alicia attributes surviving her teenage years to the comfort, release and escape writing offered and she hopes to inspire the next generation of readers and writers to embrace their true passions.
Zainab Syed
Zainab Zahra Syed is a writer, performer and educator. As an internationally-touring Pakistani Spoken Word artist, Zainab has performed and taught workshops at venues in the US, UK, Europe, South Asia and Australia. She has also facilitated workshops on writing as expression, healing and empowerment at a women’s prison in Rhode Island, USA, to trauma victims in Pakistan, and currently works with migrants and refugees in Australia.
In 2015 she was a finalist in the National Australian Poetry Slam and won the Brown University Slam in 2012. She has been a teaching artist at the Red Room Company and Said Poets Society. In 2016, she co- founded WORD Ink, launching Pakistan’s first poetry slam as well as other workshop & lecture programs creating safe spaces for the youth to respond to the insecurity around them in a non-violent manner.
