Stella Prize Satellite Parties
On the evening of Tuesday, 16 April 2013, the inaugural winner of the Stella Prize will be announced. While not everyone can attend the award ceremony in Melbourne, we encourage you to join in the celebrations. We want to celebrate the Stella Prize with a great big nationwide party to acknowledge the national impact the Stella Prize will have and to give everyone, no matter where they live, a sense of connection with the Stella Prize and the future of Australian women’s writing.
We will be live-tweeting proceedings on the award night, and would love you to join the party by hosting a Stella Prize satellite party on April 16 from 6 p.m. AEST. Gather together with your friends and family, book club, work colleagues and other book-lovers and tune in to the awards ceremony via Twitter.
Stella Prize satellite parties don’t need to involve a lot of expense or organisation. You could meet at a pub, cafe or restaurant, where attendees can pay for their own drinks and food. You could even have a BYO (food and drinks) party at someone’s house. It’s all about bringing together a community of book-lovers to celebrate an important Australian first.
In the downloads section of our website you’ll find a Stella Prize Satellite Party Planner for you to advertise your party and to distribute to your friends and contacts, who may want to plan their own parties.
And on the big night, don’t forget to tweet pictures of your party and put them up on the Stella Prize Facebook page.
We hope you’ll join us on the evening of Tuesday 16 April to congratulate the Stella Prize’s inaugural winner. It will be a night when literary history is made, and you’ll be a part of it!
