9/9/15: Stella Schools Program NSW Launch
Join us for a very special free event to celebrate the launch of the Stella Schools Program in NSW. Authors Randa Abdel-Fattah, JC Burke, Erin Gough and Emily Maguire will discuss the ways unconscious bias affected their teenage reading habits, and how their books seek to address contemporary issues around gender and diversity. The panel will be moderated by Stella Prize Schools Coordinator Bec Kavanagh, and followed by book signings and refreshments.

The Stella Schools Program NSW launch speakers:
Randa Abdel-Fattah is the award-winning author of several YA novels, including Does My Head Look Big in This? She speaks widely at schools, writers’ festivals, universities and conferences in Australia and overseas.
JC (Jane) Burke is the author of The Story of Tom Brennan, which won the 2006 CBC Book of the Year Award for Older Readers, and is currently on the NSW HSC syllabus list. Her novel Pig Boy won the Ned Kelly Award for crime fiction in 2012.
Erin Gough is an award-winning writer of short fiction and the author of The Flywheel, which won the 2014 Ampersand Project.
Emily Maguire is an award-winning author whose book Your Skirt’s Too Short: Sex, Power, Choice is a thoughtful personal exploration of the gender issues affecting teenagers.
Bec Kavanagh is the Schools Coordinator for the Stella Prize, and a freelance writer, reviewer and YA fiction specialist who has written for a number of education journals.
