Earlier in 2018 her debut play Single Asian Female was staged at La Boite Theatre and Belvoir Street Theatre to sold-out audiences and was awarded five stars by The Guardian. She is currently working on the feature film adaptation of Alice Pung’s young adult novel Laurinda.
Mullumbimby by Melissa Lucashenko
Longlisted for the 2014 Stella Prize
“Could this book have been more critically acclaimed? Mullumbimby is one of the most readable and beautiful romantic novels I’ve read in a long while. Lucashenko’s descriptions of land and home are breathtaking and I found myself laughing darkly throughout. I particularly loved the exploration of inter-generational relationships and the relationships humans have with animals.”

The Hate Race by Maxine Beneba Clarke
Shortlisted for the 2017 Stella Prize
“Beneba is one of Australia’s finest writers, and this memoir about her experiences growing up African in Australia are confronting, often hilarious and more than ever, necessary in today’s political climate. Buy it and gift it to all your racist family members at Christmas. “

Laurinda by Alice Pung
Longlisted for the 2015 Stella Prize
“Laurinda is the perfect novel for adult readers looking for an in into ‘young adult’ fiction, which I personally think is a pretty arbitrary term. Good fiction is for all ages. Laurinda is a sophisticated and biting read for anyone who’s ever gone through high school surrounded by toxic people and institutions and survived. Bonus points: it’s set in the 1990s and very nostalgic.”
